Songwriting contest praising Viet Nam–Cuba friendship launched
ĐTO/NDO- The launch ceremony for a songwriting contest titled “Viet Nam – Cuba: Forever Resounding the Song of Friendship” took place in Ha Noi on August 22.
The event was attended by Tran Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Mass Mobilisation, and Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Viet Nam, along with numerous delegates and guests.
The press conference was chaired by Associate Professor, Doctor, and composer Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Viet Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; Major General and composer Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Viet Nam Musicians’ Association; and writer-journalist Hoang Du, Editor-in-Chief of Literature and Arts Times.

Speaking at the press conference, writer and journalist Hoang Du said that in response to the Viet Nam Red Cross Society’s call for a campaign entitled “65 Years of Viet Nam – Cuba Solidarity”, which runs for 65 days (from August 13 to October 16) to mobilise resources in support of the Cuban people in overcoming difficulties and to foster the special friendship between the two nations; and under the direction of the Viet Nam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, Literature and Arts Times, in coordination with the Viet Nam Musicians’ Association and Tri Thuc So Media Group (TTS), is organising the songwriting contest with the theme “Viet Nam – Cuba: Forever Resounding the Song of Friendship”.
The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens, overseas Vietnamese, and foreigners living in Viet Nam, regardless of age or profession.
Entries must be original songs composed in any musical style that is legally recognised in Viet Nam.
Submissions must not have been previously published or won awards in any other competition at central, local, or sectoral levels. The organising committee will not consider works that copy or imitate the ideas, melodies, or lyrics of other authors, either domestic or foreign.
Authors bear full responsibility for the copyright of their works under the law. Should a winning work be found to violate regulations on authorship or related rights, the organising committee will revoke the award and issue a public notice through the media.
The awards include first, second, third, and consolation prizes.
Outstanding works will be selected for performance at the closing ceremony of the contest, where the prizes will also be presented.
The award ceremony is scheduled for October 15.
