12 Highlights of Dong Thap’s education sector in 2025

(DTO) The year 2025 marked a significant turning point for Dong Thap’s Education and Training sector, as the education systems of Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces were merged. This merger created a new, larger, more synchronized, and highly anticipated educational landscape.

Building on this foundation, the entire sector overcame difficulties, leveraged strengths, quickly adapted to the new management mechanism, and achieved numerous outstanding results. Below are 12 typical achievements of the Dong Thap Education sector in 2025.

1. Establishment of the new Dong Thap Province and consolidation of the education management system 
The merger of Tien Giang and Dong Thap provinces laid an important foundation for comprehensive innovation across the sector. The restructuring of the apparatus, reorganization of the school network, and unification of management processes were scientifically implemented, creating a vital framework for the 2025–2030 development orientation.
 

2. Continued implementation of Conclusion 91-KL/TW on fundamental and comprehensive education and training innovation 
Many innovative educational models were expanded; the quality of teaching and learning continued to improve; the teaching staff was professionally developed and standardized; and infrastructure received strong investment.

3. Implementation of Resolution 71-NQ/TW on enhancing education quality 
The sector focused on teacher training, innovating teaching methods, promoting STEM education, career orientation, and strengthening digital capacity for secondary school students.

4. Education and training targets met and exceeded plans 
Student mobilization rates across all levels achieved high results: nursery education reached 25.9%; kindergarten 93.8%; primary education 100%; lower secondary education 99.5%; and upper secondary and equivalent levels 85.07%.

5. Evaluation of the thematic program “Child-centered kindergarten” for the 2021-2025 period 
Many positive models were spread, such as: Happy School, Green – Safe – Friendly Kindergarten, and Child-Centered Classrooms, providing a comprehensive development environment for young children.

6. Continued affirmation of teaching and learning quality 
The 2025 high school graduation examination achieved a pass rate of 99.42%; specifically, the upper secondary school segment reached 99.87%, demonstrating the seriousness, effectiveness, and quality of teaching and testing efforts.

7. Successful organization of the 10th grade enrollment examination for the 2025–2026 academic year 
The examination was conducted safely and transparently, contributing to the student streaming process after lower secondary school and providing important data for adjusting teaching and learning activities.

8. Consolidation of the teaching staff in both quantity and quality 
The entire sector currently employs 36,770 officials, teachers, and staff, including: 8,989 at the preschool level and 27,781 at the general education level. This force serves as the core for effective implementation of new education programs.

9. High achievements in advanced education 
The province won 88 national excellent student awards (8 second prizes, 20 third prizes, and 60 consolation prizes), ranking first in the Mekong Delta region for the total number of awards.
 

10. Acceleration of national standard school construction and quality accreditation 
A total of 851 schools across the province met national standards, and 886 institutions received quality accreditation—a significant step toward the standardization and modernization of education.

11. Vocational education continues to break through 
Enrollment reached 114.2% of the target; over 92% of students secured employment after graduation. Notably, demand-driven training achieved a 100% immediate employment rate.
 

12. Outstanding achievements in school sports 
The Dong Thap student sports delegation won 7 gold medals, 16 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals, placing them in the top 10 leading units nationwide.

These results demonstrate the exceptional effort made by the entire sector amidst the challenges of the merger. Dong Thap education is gradually asserting its position, creating a solid foundation for sustainable development in the new phase.
