2nd Sa Dec Flower Festival Wraps Up, Cementing Its Position as a "Flower Capital"
(DTO) On the evening of January 4, at Sa Dec Square, the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee held the closing ceremony of the 2nd Sa Dec Flower & Ornamental Plant Festival.
After more than a week of vibrant activities, the festival concluded in resounding success, underscoring the enduring vitality of the century-old craft village and its position as the region’s center of flowers and ornamental plants.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Pham Van Chuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Tran Van Dung, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2nd Flower & Ornamental Plant Festival; along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, residents, and visitors.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee highlighted that this year’s festival was not only large in scale but also marked a true breakthrough in quality. Outstanding activities included setting a record with a Vietnam Map crafted from 1,000 varieties of flowers and ornamental plants, a hot air balloon zone introduced in Sa Dec for the first time which offered a unique experience, and a flower village tour program for more than 1,000 disadvantaged students across the Mekong Delta.
Notably, Sa Dec’s floriculture was officially recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, creating new momentum for the locality’s sustainable development.

On the closing night, the Organizing Committee honored and presented awards to standout individuals and units participating in contests held during the festival, including the photo contest “Love Stories of the Flower Land,” the online photo contest “Sa Dec Flower Moments,” and the Beautiful Spaces Contest.

In his closing remarks, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan emphasized: “The festival’s success lies not only in its record-breaking visitor numbers, but also in the pride and unity of the people in preserving their ancestral heritage. Sa Dec flowers will continue reaching farther, not only creating economic value, but also spreading the image of a warm and dynamic Dong Thap.”

Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan added that after the festival, Dong Thap Province is committed to improving tourism infrastructure, fostering innovation, and strengthening collaboration with scientists and businesses to enhance local livelihoods and support the continued growth of the century-old flower village.
The closing ceremony wrapped up with a vibrant show titled “Blossoms of a New Day” and a brilliant hot air balloon lantern show. The glowing balloons lighting up the sky symbolized the rising aspirations of Dong Thap’s floriculture industry, promising a bright future for the Flower Capital along the gentle Tien River.
