Border Guard High Command Inspects Border Guard Operations in Dong Thap Province
(DTO) On December 15, an inspection delegation from the Border Guard High Command (BGHC), led by Major General Tran Ngoc Huu, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, conducted an inspection of combat readiness and the results of efforts to prevent and combat illegal entry and exit along the Tien River in Dong Thap Province.
Receiving and working with the delegation were Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee; representatives of the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Police, and the Provincial Border Guard Command.

Reporting to the inspection delegation, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Commander of the Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard Command, said that immediately after receiving the decision of the Border Guard Commander on shifting border management and protection from a regular to an enhanced mode, the provincial Border Guard Command thoroughly disseminated and seriously implemented the directive across all subordinate agencies and units.
The unit has deployed forces and means to stay close to the area, grasp the situation on the ground, and coordinate with local authorities and mass organizations to promote public awareness and mobilize people to actively participate in preventing and combating various types of border-related crimes.

The provincial Border Guard has coordinated with inter-agency forces to properly perform state management functions at border gates, strictly maintaining inspection and control of people, vehicles, and goods crossing the border in accordance with prescribed procedures. At the same time, forces and equipment have been strengthened to conduct patrols to prevent illegal entry and exit by river and land, contributing to maintaining stability in the area.
Accordingly, the provincial Border Guard organized 58 independent patrol teams and coordinated with other forces to deploy 43 joint patrol teams, focusing on key areas prone to illegal entry and exit as well as areas with complex security and order issues along both border routes under its responsibility.
In addition, 124 field task forces were deployed to coordinate with self-management groups for border markers and boundary lines to exchange information and conduct public outreach, encouraging local residents to strictly comply with laws and regulations in border areas.

Speaking at the inspection, Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan proposed that the Border Guard High Command and the Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard further strengthen the deployment of forces and means to closely manage the land border and the Tien River section bordering An Giang Province.
He also called for continued direction for departments, agencies, and functional forces to closely coordinate with the provincial Border Guard in public communication and mobilization efforts, urging people to strictly observe border-related laws, participate in crime prevention, and maintain security and order in border areas.

On behalf of the inspection delegation, Major General Tran Ngoc Huu, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by the unit in carrying out assigned tasks. He requested the Dong Thap Provincial Border Guard Command to continue advising the provincial People’s Committee on state management of border affairs; strictly maintain combat readiness regimes; and proactively grasp developments early and from afar in order to promptly handle situations and avoid passivity or surprise.
The provincial Border Guard was also urged to strengthen forces and equipment for regular stationing, patrols, inspections, and controls in key and complex areas on land and river routes. In addition, it should closely coordinate with the Border Guards of An Giang and Tay Ninh provinces to tightly manage adjoining border areas, effectively preventing illegal entry and exit along rivers and border lines.
At the same time, proactive information exchange and coordination with border protection forces of neighboring countries were emphasized to ensure tight management of both sides’ borders, contributing to the preservation of solidarity, friendship, and cooperative relations between the two countries.
