Cho Gao Commune Receives Safe Zone Commune Status

(DTO) On the morning of August 7, the Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cho Gao Commune solemnly held a ceremony to announce the decision of the Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee recognizing Cho Gao as a Safe Zone Commune. 

The recognition reflects the Party and State’s acknowledgment of the great contributions and sacrifices made by the local Party organization, authorities and people during the struggle for national liberation. It also serves as a motivation for the locality to uphold its revolutionary traditions and build a rapidly and sustainably developing land.  

Delegates observe a minute of silence in tribute to fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for national independence. 

The ceremony was attended by Tran Thi Kim Cuc, former Party Central Committee member and former Secretary of the former Tien Giang Provincial Party Committee; Vietnamese Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Chung, Hero of the People’s Armed Forces; Pham Thi Mai Tien, Member of the Standing Committee of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office; former leaders of Tien Giang Province and the former Cho Gao District through different periods; representatives of provincial departments and agencies; as well as numerous officials, families of policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services to the revolution, and local residents.

Cho Gao Commune was established on July 1, 2025, through the merger of Song Binh Commune, Long Binh Dien Commune and Cho Gao Town. During the two wars of resistance, this area served as an important revolutionary base, providing shelter and support for cadres and soldiers and contributing to the success of the struggle for national liberation. 

The locality has 467 martyrs, 121 war invalids, 31 sick soldiers and 76 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Numerous collectives and individuals have also been recognized and honored by the Party and State for their contributions to the revolutionary cause. 

Building on its heroic traditions, Cho Gao Commune has achieved positive results in socio-economic development in recent years. Average per capita income has reached approximately 76.5 million VND per year. Specialized growing areas for coconut, pomelo and dragon fruit continue to expand, while the locality now has nine OCOP-certified products rated three stars. Administrative reform and digital transformation have also seen significant progress, with more than 97% of residents activating Level 2 VNeID accounts. Various models to better serve residents and businesses have also been effectively implemented.

Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Thi Mai Tien praised the achievements made by the Party Committee, authorities and people of Cho Gao Commune. She called on the locality to continue promoting education on revolutionary traditions; preserving and restoring historical sites; building a clean and strong political system; strengthening solidarity; making effective use of local potential and advantages; promoting economic development in combination with science and technology, digital transformation and administrative reform; and providing better care for people with meritorious services and social welfare beneficiaries, while improving residents’ material and spiritual well-being.

Cho Gao Commune People’s Committee Chairman Pham Ky Phong affirmed that Safe Zone Commune status is a source of honor and pride for the local Party organization, authorities and people. At the same time, it carries the responsibility to preserve and promote revolutionary traditions, build a government that stays close to and serves the people, accelerate administrative reform and digital transformation, develop the local socio-economic sector, and effectively carry out activities to honor those who made sacrifices for the country and provide social welfare.

In the coming period, Cho Gao Commune will focus on preserving and promoting its historical and cultural values; mobilizing resources for infrastructure development; accelerating agricultural restructuring in association with high-tech applications; and supporting businesses, cooperatives and household businesses in expanding production. 

The locality will continue developing digital government and improving the quality of public services, using the satisfaction of residents and businesses as a measure of the performance of its officials and civil servants. It will also continue implementing policies for people with meritorious services, poor and near-poor households, and social welfare beneficiaries.
