Coast Guard Region 3 Command Signs Cooperation Agreement with Dong Thap Press and Radio–Television on Maritime and Island Communication
(DTO) On December 19, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, in coordination with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, Dong Thap Press and Radio–Television, and the Dong Thap Department of Education and Training, held a conference to sign cooperation programs on maritime and island communication.
The cooperation includes joint implementation of communication activities on maritime and island issues through print and online Press, digital platforms, social media, and broadcast channels of Dong Thap Press and Radio, Television; as well as the signing of a program to organize communication and educational activities on maritime and island awareness and the contest “I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands” for the 2024–2030 period and beyond.

The conference was attended by Colonel Cao Xuan Quan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy Political Commissar of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command; Mr. Pham The Vinh, Deputy Head of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Mr. Nguyen Trong Tan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dong Thap Press and Radio, Television; Ms. Huynh Thi Phuong, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Education and Training; representatives of coastal communes in Dong Thap province; and representatives of school administrations across the province.

At the conference, Colonel Cao Xuan Quan emphasized that Vietnam is a coastal nation with a vast maritime area, and that the sea plays a particularly important role in national construction and defense. Fishermen, together with the Coast Guard, Navy, and Border Guard forces, constitute the core forces in safeguarding national sovereignty and sovereign rights over seas and islands.
In recent years, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command has effectively implemented the "Coast Guard Accompanying Fishermen" and "I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands" programs, achieving practical results in Dong Thap province. These efforts have contributed to communication, support for fishermen and students, and social security work, receiving high appreciation from local party committees, authorities, and the people.
Building on these positive outcomes, Coast Guard Region 3 Command continues to identify communication and awareness-raising among officials, the public, and younger generations as a key task.
The signing of the coordination program with Dong Thap Press and Radio, Television will contribute to disseminating information about the seas, islands, and the activities of the Coast Guard to a wide audience across multiple platforms.
Additionally, the coordination with the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Education and Training to organize the "I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands" contest for the 2024–2030 period aims to nurture patriotism and enhance awareness among the younger generation.
To ensure the effectiveness of the signed agreements, the Coast Guard Region 3 Command hopes to continue receiving guidance from the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, along with close coordination from Dong Thap's relevant agencies, to contribute to the firm protection of maritime sovereignty and security in the new era.
At the conference, Ms. Huynh Thi Phuong, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Department of Education and Training, stated that educating the younger generation on sea and island sovereignty has always been an important political task for the education sector.
The signing of the coordination program between the Department of Education and Training and the Coast Guard Region 3 Command is a strategically significant milestone, establishing a solid legal foundation for the systematic implementation of patriotic education activities during the 2025–2030 period.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Trong Tan emphasized that Dong Thap Press and Radio–Television will continue to closely coordinate with relevant agencies, particularly the Coast Guard forces, to ensure that information dissemination on maritime and island issues is timely and more effective”.
Simultaneously, the agency will focus on effectively implementing the Party and State's information and policy guidelines regarding the management, protection, and sustainable development of seas and islands.
He also referred to current developments in the East Sea, identifying that the domestic press corps in general, and Dong Thap's in particular, will continue to participate in affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.
They remain steadfast in protecting the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone in the East Sea, contributing to the strategy of involving the entire population in protecting maritime sovereignty and enhancing foreign-service information.
On this occasion, the conference announced Commendation Decisions for the implementation of the "I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands" contest for the 2025–2030 school year for secondary school students in coastal communes of Dong Thap province; and the Decision to grant certificates to students with outstanding achievements in the commune-cluster round of the "I Love My Homeland’s Seas and Islands" contest for the 2025–2026 school year for secondary school students in coastal communes of Dong Thap province.
