Developing night-time economy at Thap Muoi Square

DTO/NDO- In recent days, the atmosphere in Thap Muoi Commune has become lively and vibrant as the locality has put into operation a night-time economy model at Thap Muoi Square.

Nguyen Thi Kim Thoai, Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Thap Muoi Commune in Dong Thap Province, said that the commune is now operating the night-time economy model at Thap Muoi Square.
The site is expected to serve as a healthy space for shopping, dining, and entertainment for both residents and visitors, thereby contributing to local socio-economic development.

Thap Muoi Square covers an area of approximately 40,000 square metres and has been equipped with a stage to host festivals, celebrations, and major events of the commune.

To effectively develop the night-time economy, the commune’s People’s Committee has designated three areas for sports and recreational activities such as walking, badminton, and club gatherings.
Cultural and artistic programmes are regularly organised on the stage. In addition, business stalls have been arranged in a rational manner to meet the needs of dining, shopping, and entertainment.

The square operates daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. In the initial days of operation, the venue has attracted between 1,500 and 2,000 visitors each evening, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The commune’s People’s Committee has also implemented synchronised measures to ensure traffic safety, facilitate the movement of residents and vehicles, and minimise congestion on major roads. At the same time, operational regulations have been issued, with strengthened efforts to ensure environmental sanitation, food safety, and public security.

According to the Chairwoman of the Thap Muoi Commune People’s Committee, after one month of operation, the commune will conduct a review in May to assess the effectiveness of the night-time economy at Thap Muoi Square, with a view to improving the management of commercial activities and ensuring urban aesthetics, public security, and environmental hygiene.

The introduction of the night-time economy at Thap Muoi Square not only enhances the spiritual and cultural life of local residents but also opens up new directions for service and commercial development, gradually building a more civilised and modern locality and transforming it into an attractive destination in the future.
