(DTO) On September 11, a joint delegation from the Border Guard Command and central inter-agency forces, led by Major General Vo Tien Nghi, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard (Ministry of National Defence), surveyed and met with the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee to review the implementation of Government Decree No. 112/2014/ND-CP on the management of land border gates.

The delegation was received by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien, member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap Provincial People’s Committee, along with leaders of provincial departments and relevant agencies.

The delegation surveys the construction site of the Moc Ra Secondary Border Gate in Hong Ngu Ward.

At the meeting, provincial leaders briefed the delegation on key aspects of state management regarding land border gates.

Accordingly, following the approval of the Dong Thap Border Gate Economic Zone (BGEZ) master plan in 2013, the provincial People’s Committee designated the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board as the primary investor for border infrastructure. This initiative aims to modernize essential infrastructure at international and secondary border gates, thereby enhancing border control, attracting investment, and driving trade, services, and import-export activities.

During the trip, the delegation visits Dinh Ba International Border Gate in Tan Ho Co Commune.

From 2013 to 2026, the province allocated approximately VND 435 billion to the Management Board to roll out technical infrastructure projects across the BGEZ.

For the 2026-2030 period, the Board will spearhead a VND 777 billion infrastructure investment project for the Thuong Phuoc and Moc Ra border crossings. Concurrently, over VND 29 billion will be channeled into constructing a new National Border Gate Welcoming Arch at Dinh Ba International Border Gate.

Meanwhile, administrative reforms at border gates are being fast-tracked through digitalization and modernization to minimize customs clearance times. Key technological solutions include deploying automated border control gates and biometric authentication at international checkpoints to streamline clearance procedures.

At the session, Vice Chairman Nguyen Phuoc Thien acknowledged the delegation’s feedback and pledged to promptly direct provincial departments to resolve bottlenecks in implementing Decree No. 112.

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Vo Tien Nghi highly praised Dong Thap’s successful implementation of Decree No. 112, highlighting several outstanding milestones. He urged the province to tighten control over exit-entry activities and border-gate imports, strengthen state management of border gates, and expeditiously construct transport and connectivity infrastructure. He also stressed the need to build National Border Gate Welcoming Arches at both Dinh Ba and Thuong Phuoc international border gates, optimize zone planning, and upgrade working facilities for border control authorities.

Regarding the province’s proposals, the delegation noted all recommendations for synthesis and submission to competent authorities for regulatory resolution.

Earlier, the delegation conducted field surveys at the Moc Ra Secondary Border Gate in Hong Ngu Ward and inspected the designated sites for National Border Gate Welcoming Arches at Dinh Ba (Tan Ho Co Commune) and Thuong Phuoc (Thuong Phuoc Commune) international border gates.
