Dong Thap Launches the 2026 Economic Census
(DTO) On the morning of January 7, the Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census of Dong Thap Province, in coordination with the People’s Committee and the Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census of Dao Thanh Ward, held the launching ceremony for the 2026 Economic Census.
At the same time, grassroots statistical units coordinated with commune and ward People’s Committees across the province to organize launching ceremonies that were efficient, economical, and dignified.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Van Niem, Deputy Head of the Dong Thap Provincial Statistics Office, stated that the Economic Census is one of three nationwide censuses conducted under the National Statistical Survey Program, held every five years.
This year’s Economic Census aims to collect information from economic establishments, focusing on key areas such as assessing growth in the number, size, and labor of economic establishments; production and business performance; the level of information technology application and digital transformation; and the structure and distribution of establishments and labor by locality, economic sector, economic type, and ownership, which will serve the management and administrative needs of the Party, the State, ministries, sectors, and localities.
The census also supports the compilation of statistical indicators within the National Statistical Indicator System, particularly indicators such as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), and other relevant indicators within the statistical indicator system.
Additionally, the census will update information and build a database for revising the base year used in socio-economic statistical calculations; and provide a comprehensive sampling frame of economic establishments for sample surveys conducted in subsequent phases by the statistics sector, ministries, departments, and localities.

The census will be conducted in two phases: Phase 1 from January 5 to March 31, 2026; and Phase 2 from April 1 to August 31, 2026. For Dong Thap Province specifically, central authorities have set an earlier completion deadline of July 31, 2026.
For Phase 1, which covers individual business households, cooperative groups, and religious establishments, the Steering Committee for the 2026 Economic Census of Dong Thap Province has mobilized 1,452 enumerators, 100 team leaders, and 70 supervisors to carry out the census in 1,927 enumeration areas. In Dao Thanh Ward alone, 31 enumeration areas will involve 32 enumerators, 2 team leaders, and 1 supervisor.
