Dong Thap: New Confidence, New Momentum and the Aspiration to Rise

(DTO) In 2026, with steadfast confidence in the leadership of the Party, Dong Thap is maximizing the strength of great political and social solidarity, determined to ignite a spirit of proactiveness and creativity, joining forces to fulfill the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term right from the first year. 

This will lay a solid foundation for the province’s journey to realize its aspiration to rise and make strong breakthroughs in a new era of development.

OUTSTANDING HIGHLIGHTS

2025 marked a historic milestone as the newly established province of Dong Thap officially came into being, opening a new chapter of development. With unity and strong determination from the Provincial Party Committee, authorities, and the people, Dong Thap strived to overcome difficulties, meeting and surpassing multiple targets and indicators.

These achievements were not only reflected in impressive figures but also demonstrated through concrete and meaningful actions.

The province promptly and decisively restructured the political-administrative apparatus in strict accordance with the Central Party’s direction, scientifically and with a human-centered approach, upholding the spirit of “building the plane while flying” and “ensuring no disruption to ongoing work,” thereby enabling the new organizational model to operate more effectively.

It also successfully organized commune- and ward-level Party congresses and the 1st Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Notably, Party building continued to be identified as a central, consistent, and foundational task behind every achievement.

Accordingly, the Provincial Party Committee places emphasis on renewing leadership methods, strengthening the capacity and fighting spirit of grassroots Party organizations, prioritizing political and ideological education, promoting the exemplary role of officials and Party members, especially key leaders, while enhancing inspection, supervision, and anti-corruption efforts to reinforce public trust in the Party. In 2025, the province admitted more than 2,550 new Party members, helping further strengthen the leadership capacity and fighting spirit of Party organizations.

Looking back on 2025, Dong Thap’s socio-economic picture was marked by many bright colors, with 26 out of 27 major indicators achieved or exceeded, creating strong momentum for development.

Industrial production maintained an impressive growth rate, rising 11.5% compared to 2024. Export turnover reached an estimated 9.21 billion USD, reaffirming the province’s increasingly solid position in the international market.

Production and business activities continued to flourish, with 2,730 enterprises registered for operation, surpassing the target. Remarkably, the poverty rate dropped to 0.71%, an exceptionally low level compared to the national average, serving as clear proof of the effectiveness of the province’s social welfare policies.

The implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and national digital transformation has produced highly positive results in Dong Thap, gradually creating clear changes in both mindset and action. Digital transformation has been identified as a central, consistent task in leadership, governance, and implementation.

Digital infrastructure, e-government, and shared databases have been invested synchronously, ensuring seamless connectivity with national platforms.

The fields of culture, social affairs, and environment have continued to receive focused investment, delivering visible progress. Programs supporting social housing and eliminating temporary or dilapidated homes have been accelerated, helping improve living conditions for local residents.

At the same time, efforts to ensure political security and social order have been carried out rigorously and uniformly. Crime prevention and control have improved significantly, creating a stable and safe environment that reinforces public trust.

These achievements once again affirm the spirit of solidarity, persistent effort, and strong determination of the entire political system and the people of the province. They also underscore the flexible leadership capacity, innovative mindset, and proactive aspiration for action of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and local authorities in recent times.
This is a valuable source of internal strength, a solid foundation for the province to confidently overcome difficulties and challenges, continue making breakthroughs, and create new highlights on its development journey.

A FOUNDATION FOR BREAKTHROUGH

The achievements of 2025 have laid an important foundation for Dong Thap to confidently move into 2026, a pivotal year marking the beginning of the implementation of Party Congress resolutions at all levels, including the 1st Provincial Party Congress and the 14th National Party Congress.

This year also features several major national political events, including the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

Fully aware of the significance and demands of the new phase, Dong Thap is focusing on translating resolutions into practical programs and action plans, decisively removing bottlenecks, unlocking resources, and promoting administrative reform and digital transformation.

At the same time, the province continues to consolidate a streamlined, effective, and efficient political system, fostering the strength of solidarity and the aspiration to rise, thereby creating new momentum for the next stage of development.

To clarify key tasks for the coming period, Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong emphasized several priorities. 

To begin with, in Party building and rectification, and in strengthening a clean and strong political system, the focus is on enhancing the Party’s leadership and governance capacity. The province will continue boldly renewing leadership methods, rigorously implementing Central Party resolutions and conclusions on strengthening Party building and political system rectification, resolutely preventing, combating, and strictly handling officials and Party members who show signs of political, moral, or lifestyle degradation, or expressions of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation,” in close association with studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style.

The province will strictly and effectively implement grassroots democracy regulations, ensure the people’s right to participate and decide, and reinforce public trust and social consensus. It will strongly promote the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in building great national solidarity, enhancing the quality of supervision and social criticism, contributing to Party and government building, and strengthening leadership and direction for the election of National Assembly and People’s Council deputies for the 2026-2031 term in a lawful, democratic, objective, and quality-driven manner.

At the same time, priority will be given to key areas that support fast and sustainable economic development, accelerating science and technology application, innovation, digital transformation, and breakthroughs in critical infrastructure, particularly transportation, to develop sectors with strong industrial potential, high-tech agriculture linked with processing and tourism, and driving rapid economic growth for the province.

In addition, it will improve human-resource quality in tandem with developing education and training, and effectively implementing social welfare policies.

The province will promote information technology application and digital transformation in teaching and learning, provide training and upskilling for officials and civil servants, especially at the commune and ward levels, to meet workload requirements and ensure smooth, effective two-tier local governance, while strengthening national defense, security, and external relations.

As 2026 begins, the Dong Thap Party Committee, local authorities, and people continue to uphold their tradition of solidarity, innovation, and aspiration for advancement, determined to translate goals and resolutions into concrete, effective actions.

With a strengthened foundation and renewed confidence and momentum, Dong Thap is poised to accelerate, break through, and leave a clear mark on its path toward fast and sustainable development in the new period.
