Dong Thap: Vibrant Arts Program and Fireworks Displays Celebrate the Year of the Horse 2026

(DTO) On the evening of February 16 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month), Dong Thap Province organized the "Dong Thap Welcomes Spring 2026" arts program. The event was broadcast live from four locations: Hung Vuong Square (Dao Thanh Ward), Van Mieu Square (Cao Lanh Ward), Sa Dec Square (Sa Dec Ward), and Vo Nguyen Giáp Square (Hong Ngu Ward).

Attending the program at the main venue (Hung Vuong Square) were Mr. Ngo Chi Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap province; Ms. Chau Thi My Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairwoman of the People’s Council of Dong Thap province; and Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dong Thap province.

At the Cao Lanh ward venue were Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Mr. Phan Van Thang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province…

At the venues, special art performances imbued with the atmosphere of spring and distinctive cultural features were presented in a joyful and vibrant manner.

At the sacred moment welcoming the Lunar New Year of the Horse, on behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai extended his best wishes for health, happiness, peace, and prosperity to compatriots, officials, armed forces personnel, the business community, and Dong Thap natives living, studying, and working inside and outside the province.

According to Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai, the Year of the Snake has passed, marking a historic transformation. Dong Thap province was established with an expanded space stretching from the Southwest border to the East Sea, creating new development momentum and joining the country in entering a new era – the nation’s era of rise.

Overcoming numerous difficulties and challenges, with the solidarity and unity of the entire political system and the people, Dong Thap has achieved many outstanding results.

The two-tier local government has operated smoothly. The scale of the economy surpassed VND 290 trillion for the first time. State budget revenue exceeded VND 24 trillion. GRDP per capita reached over VND 84 million per year, and people’s living standards continued to improve. Export turnover surpassed USD 9.2 billion.

Many Dong Thap products have reached global markets. Strategic transport infrastructure, especially expressways, has gradually taken shape, creating new momentum for regional connectivity, promoting trade, and attracting investment.

These significant achievements have directly improved people’s living standards and created a solid foundation for the province to enter the New Year with confidence, creativity, and strong innovation. The Provincial Party Committee and authorities of Dong Thap are committed to taking decisive action.

The province focuses on removing difficulties for people and businesses; concentrating on strategic breakthroughs; continuing to effectively implement key “pillar” resolutions; tapping into its strengths and potential to promote rapid and sustainable development.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai sincerely expressed gratitude for the trust, companionship, and responsible contributions of the people, business community, officials, civil servants, public employees, workers, and armed forces of the province in recent times.

With renewed confidence and new opportunities, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai expressed his belief that each Dong Thap citizen will continue to promote solidarity, self-reliance, and resilience, joining the Party Committee and authorities in building Dong Thap into an increasingly developed homeland, so that each spring brings greater prosperity, peace, and happiness to every person and every family.

After the “Dong Thap Welcomes Spring 2026” art program, localities simultaneously organized fireworks displays to welcome the New Year.

During the 2026 Lunar New Year, Dong Thap had eight localities organizing artistic fireworks displays on Lunar New Year’s Eve, including two localities with high-altitude fireworks displays: Dao Thanh ward and Cao Lanh ward.

The art program celebrating the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 and the fireworks displays attracted a large number of people to attend and enjoy.
